FAFT and Leichadti

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would think it's the opposite since ATF can chomp on the aro and from watching that video

God I wish that video had never been posted to the internet.

That GATF is around two feet long. That means the fish is no less than four or five years old; likely considerably older. The arowana in the video is less than a year old, likely only a couple of months. If you were to acquire a six inch GATF and a six inch aro and put them in a tank together, in less than a year, the GATF would be in VERY real danger of filling the belly of the arowana. The arowana is a MUCH greater threat to the GATF than the GATF is to the arowana.

If you don't believe me, look at what an eighteen inch black arowana did to a foot long GATF:

wow

I had a VATF 13-14" and a 24" black aro that did not last more than 2 hrs. My old Vittatus was not really aggressive towards tankmates except to 3.
dead 9: Orino
Faceless Mono Sabae
scared 24" aro looking for an opening to jump ship

Never tried atf/aro more than once with that try.

Works great. Just make sure the ATF has MAJOR head start as the aro will grow way faster.

there are lots of variables, each fish has different levels of aggressionas a start then theres the larger tank= less aggression arguement... also chix, as you may or may not know i have successfully commed a wyckii (currently at 18 inch) with cichlids in a 300g, i dont assume for one minute it would work for someone else and certainly wouldnt advise people to try it.

I know things can change from keeper to keeper. If they didn't, the hobby would be awefully boring ;)

I was simply trying to state that I have had luck with this combo when starting them together correctly and when young.

Your results may vary. :)

I would do it if it were a VATF or a GATF. From what I have read, the FATF is more of a fin-nipper and doesn't do as well with tank mates? Not sure if anyone can confirm or deny?

I have a VATF in 6,5 . (maybe it is a FATF)
He allways try to bite in the fins from his Tankmates ( Scomberoides, Polypterus, Gars ).
Also every fish in the tank wants to bite him when he is swimming around.
I think they are freaking out because of his speed combinated with the silvery color .
I had to seperate him from my main tank and i will not try it again.

That is interesting. can anyone else comment on this?

All I can tell you guys is this:
My Silver arowana at 10" ate my albino bichir fish that was about 6" and bichirs are pretty hardy. He also ate a dragon goby that was about 7". Tried eating my turtle for gods sake! And arowanas grow fast. So you should be worried about the aro more than the FAFT.
