Hi guys. My 11" Fahaka Bobo is doing something odd. I caught him rubbing one side if his face on the rock/gravel side of the tank. He did it 3-4 times and then quit when I came over. I thought he was tearing up a plan or fooling with the rocks like something was in it. His face and body look perfect. Not a mark. I looked for Ich like grains of salt and see nothing. I am hoping that I am overreacting? Ive had him for a year. Hes alone in a 95g, has been since he was 2". Few scraggly plants. Am 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10 Ph 6.4
I have not had any experience with Ich before, and Bobo has never been sick.

Did you do a water change before noticing the flashing?

Atm, all you can do is keep monitoring for problems, maybe something got in the water that could be irritiating your puffer???

Is there any signs of excess slime coat being produced? Also is the rubbing / flashing still going on or has he stopped already?

I did not just do a waterchange, I am doing one tonight just to be on the super safe side. Clean water is always a good thing. I was at work all day but my husband was here and didnt see him doing it. He seems 100%. I had just never seen him do that, and it was kinda hardcore. He was really gettin it. I thought he was digging or something at first. That small clear grain of sand on his side fin is still there. But have seen this before and hope it is just sand again. I just lost a Betta last week to what I believe was Columnaris and am on high alert. I did read an article on here about Ich and Puffers, if I this does turn out Ich, I start with Aquarium salt and raise the temp, ya?
