You don't necessarily need a 800-1000gallon tank for an mbu... A tank like a 500g should work for a 3ft mbu puffer for life... Glasscages.com sells them for $2310usd and they are 8ft x 4ft x 2ft1" (LxWxH). If you have them build a custom tank for you to make that tank say an extra foot longer that's still only about 560gallons. That should work for an mbu for life (probably as the bare minimum of course).

8X4X2 is about 2.6 times it's possible body length at 3 feet for a highly active fish ...

dude, puffers have teeth. if you house your puffer, either the puffer might kill your arows or the arows might fight the puffer and they might die due to the poison of the fahaka.

for short, its a no win situation.

Think of it this way--would you put your arrow with a pack or piranhas? That's what most FW puffers are like, singly!
