When I got my fahaka puffer he had sand attached to his slime coat. Ive had him for about a week now and its still on him. Currently I am using black gravel and will be switching to sand. Im hoping switching to sand he can brush the old flakey slime and sand off him. Do you guys think by adding sand will help remove his old slime and sand?

Healthy fish are always shedding their slime coats. It is normal and helps slough off parasites, etc. Does your puffer otherwise eat and behave normally? If so, I would not worry about it. It may be "different sand" that he just gets from resting on the bottom or trying to bury himself.
