I have been reading up on these beasts for the last week and a half.does anybody have any experience keeping them.I was thinking about keeping one in a 75 gallon.would this be alrite.I dont think they can have any tankmates can they.also do they grow fast.

For me 75 gallon would be allright, with good filtration and wc a matter of course.

They are mean. They are ( possibly with the MBU and the BW and SW species ) the most interesting fishes to have in terms of personality. Don't pass on the chance of having one.

They grow quickly, the ones that grow ( because some of them stop growing or grow at a very slow pace as compared to others ). From my experience, stunt growth comes, mostly, from group relations and not from lack of space ( again, given that water quality is the same all over your system ).

They are mean as hell. ( Surprisingly I have 2 that cohabit calmly. Both about the same size. Even steal food from each others mouth. But I hear this is a total rarity. Pehaps when bigger this no longer will apply ).

I would surely go for it.

thanks............after that adivice im definitley getting one......are they strong enough to bite fingers off.I want to use sand as a subtrate and have plenty of rock caves.Ill probaly use two ac 500 s for filters.

Personally I'd say that a 75 is too small. Fahaka's love to move, and need space. A 75 gallon tank would require daily water changes, at 50% or so. The smallest tank I'd recommend for these guys is 120 deep or 125.

id also recomend a 125g, fahakas are super messy. as for growth you can expect around an inch a month.

I would also recommend a larger tank, they get pretty big and are very messy eaters, needing large water changes for a 75g.
