So I've been trying to pellet train my peacock bass by offering nothing but pellets one day, and some krill the second day, so forth. they havent hit the pellets at all yet... so they starve every other day. Should i put more harsh methods like nothing but pellets for 2-3 days and krill after? or even worse nothing but pellets until they take it?

well what kind of pellets are you feeding them?

Are you switching from live foods?

I am going through this same process right now. I had my Monos eating rosie reds as that is the only thing they would even look at. When they got to the point where they were waiting at the top of the water for food I began dropping some blood worms in instead of the minnow. By the second day they would eat them and spit them out. Third day they were all over them! From there I would take some blood worms in a cup and crush some pellets in with the blood worms. Within a few days they were eating the mixture and plain pellets followed.

Hope this helps, its a patience game but it pays of in both time and money to have them on pellets.

This is how you need to do it! The fish need to be waiting at the surface, so they hit the food as soon as it hits the water! If not, they'll continue to ignore the pellets. It will take time, but you need to be patient

thanks so much for the help! i started tossing them in while they were waiting at top, and they started taking them haha. im so happy! well the bad thing is... they make the biggest splashes ever haha and they spook the arowanas.

Some fish are just stubborn aswell my sveni pike does not go to the top of the tank... Ever so I feed piece of market shrimp. The other fish in the tank eat hikari cichlid gold floating pellets daily. But gl with getting it on pellets. I have never keep cichla so don't really say anything concerning them.
