Ouch! Jeez man, that sucks!
But I Wouldn't go throwing away your tank!
When i reseal tanks, I use ordinary clear silicone sealant. There are aquarium silicone sealants for sale, but they are more expensive, and i've never encountered a problem with regular old hardware store clear silicone sealant. (don't use window caulk {it won't work} or black silicone {it looks terrible})

Before you apply the sealant, go around the tank with a razor blade, and remove as much as the old silicone as possible. ( you may need to wrap the outside of the tank in duck tape to keep it from falling apart once the old silicone's removed.) Then yyou can go along all the seams with your new silicone.

Good luck, man!
:iagree: Also, once you have scraped it with a razor blade you will notice some residue left over. You can use rubbing alcohol with a cotton swab to remove it. I have done this a few times and never had a problem.

Good Luck!

sorry to hear it.... bummer

The only hard part was removing the old silicone! Just look at this . It took be like 3 days just to remove all the silicone because i only worked on it about an hour a day but i could have done everything in one day. Use GE I windows and doors only. I tried GE II windows and doors black and it sprung a leak and is not strong at all. Use one and you good to go. Hope this helps ;)
