I too am interested in knowing if you can sex a 5" or so one. I don't want to end up with 2 of the same.

They are more aggro than you would think and they get VERY big. I have a pair a few years ago and the male was easily 13-14" and MEAN. They look like they would be pushovers but they are not. Cool fish and $25 is a steal! You aren't likely to see them that cheap ever again but check www.aquabid.com.

I just bought a group of 5 for 250 Euro shipping included.
They are about 7 inches big.
So far no problems at all and very peaceful to other fishes.
They bully each other a little bit but nothing serious.
I hope it stays this way.

I have no other chance to get a pair.
There is only the chance to start with a group i guess.
When i have to seperate the rest at one point its fine for me.
Maybe in a big tank it works a longer time then in a small tank ?
My tank is 3m x 0,80m x 0,60m

It's fine for getting a pair. I'm just saying all five won't get along for long. Hopefully you will get a pair first before they turn on each other.

Large tank helps. I had a pair in a 10'x2'x2' and they made the tank look small.

Hopefully they play nice with my other fishes.
Otherwise they have to go.
But so far so good.
Fingers crossed.
