Sounds funky - post pics. Leaching won't happen right away, but over time - so just a week or two wouldn't be enough time to determine its safety. I worry most about stuff accumulating underneath, though, even fish finding a way to lodge itself underneath. Stranger things have happened. Keep us posted!
