Do you think this setup would benefit from fake plants?

I was thinking of the aquatop silicone plants Val/sword. Even if I did a low tech planted rank, I would have to get new lighting, and deal with more algae. Additionally, cichlids would most likely redecorare/shredd live plants since they are already in the tank and the plants wouldn't be established. I have done several low iron high tech planted tanks and imo they are more maintenance than a reef. So I do not want live plants at this time.

Do u think I should just keep decor as is? I mean with a dark blue background it is never going to look too natural...

I use real plants like pothos above my aquarium with the root system in the top of the water. I have seen some people let the vines and leaves sit in the water also. I used to have fake plants in my aquariums but they dont add anything beneficial like real plants do. I have drift wood and rocks for cover and hiding places and let the pothos help provide over head cover and help with contaminates like nitrates.

Forget the plants, when & where did you get that creamsicle Amph?

I got him from Dan at COTA. It is a Sagittae. My GF wanted to get me a fish for my bday at the beginning of the week. We looked at pics of fish and she really like the Midas complex and a particular members white Sagittae. So I ordered it with her and she reimbursed me...but hell I took her out to eat that night anyway lol. Things seem fairly relaxed now, but I sort of expect to have solo Amph in the tank in the future lol. She named him PI which I begrudgingly accepted as a name ><...it's easier to just to say "okay you win" sometimes.

Hey Matt, I reckon that at the end of the day you paid for the fish, and the dinner. lol

Great looking Sag, good luck with him.

Very true, I think she just wanted a fish she could name and claim lol. Thanks, I hope he turns out well.
