I've read that rays use a technique of "covering" to show dominance over another ray, or even other fish. Is this an aggressive gesture? Or is it just picking that spot for the heck of it?

i have never heard others bred it yet.
I have a huge mature female though I never posted yet, but all males are still young. at least need 2 years....
