Ive been looking around and found very little info on them. Found on local that is a rescue that I though was kinda cool looking. Not sure of his current size or anything. But from the pics he seems health.
Can anyone give me any info? Size, food, any info?
It is a pseudopimelodus batrochoglanis raninus. They stay small, growing very slowly to maybe 8" or so. They are an ambush predator that prefers live food like small fish and worms but can be converted to pellets and such if it isn't already. They are very nocturnal and like a gravel substrate and some shady driftwood to hide in during the day...
You wouldn't necessarily have to change from sand to gravel, it's just that they like to dig down into the sand/gravel under their driftwood hiding spots. They will re-arrange the gravel and driftwood once in a while too as do most pseudopimelodids. BTW, they are somewhat rare in the hobby in general, hard to find and can be expensive, fully grown one's go for $75 or so...
Yeah, set up an old tank you have laying around for it until you know what to do with it. That's how I ended up with seven tanks in my basement. And it's great.
