False Green Terror (Gold Saum)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am leaning towards female based on the fin shape and the colors are not as vibrant. It is still young though and so the colors could come out later but my money is on female.

at that size you can just about sex em visually, definatly a female imo im goin by the more olive coloring and the fish is more stubby and round as my females are, males definatly have a longer body and more of a metalic sheen to them

I have kept great care of my tank (weekly water changes etc.) so hopefully more color will come. I don't mind one way or the other male or female. Was hoping for a male as they are more colorful but if this one ends up being a female I will just have to get a older known male to pair her with or the other way around. I have had her/him since about June. Colors have definitely been coming out more and more. I may have over eyeballed length as well. Diet is definitely good. Getting a mix of Hikari gold color pellets, omega one color flakes and the occasional home made beef heart food with veggies added in. Any good places to buy older known sexed terrors? And I only put False based on that is what they are called a lot.

Also any suggestions on pairing older terrors. From what I understand it seems best to get juvies and let them pair naturally. Does it work to introduce them later.

I also vote for female, on colour and finage. Yes it is possible to pair them later, I paired mine at 6 inch using 2 females for the male to spread any aggression......and of course he wanted to breed with both. I believe it is more the female choosing to accept the male, I had one male that none of my females would accept to breed with and my current guy that they all want to.
Males, even at the size you say have more metallic sheen as Tankboy mentioned and this should be noticable in quality LFS tanks.
good luck with your breeding project
cheers

i say its female if you look on its side where the black dot is there are two gold vertical lines which gives a H pattern which usally indicates female
