I went into Tropical Treasures the other day to buy some prime and I saw they had a tank of juvenile 3" catfish labeled shovelnose 49.99
I was intrigued by the fish and decided I would come home and learn a little bit about them.
I Did a little bit of research and wanted to make sure what i was reading was the same species at the fish store so i called today to make sure what they had was the tigrinus...
well, the guy told me they're actually false tigrinus... he explained that a true will have a long top viel and almost nothing on the bottom... the false will have both viels... he said they will grow equally in size and that a true has a nicer pattern...
I would still love to add this specimen to my collection. Is there any other information I should know? Does anyone else keep false tigrinus?
to be honest I tingrus or the jurenese. when im older ill go ahead and buy a tsn I saw I very beautiful one of river monsters and I want one. if I dont have one by the time im 40 and have a house ill consider myself a failure
Flash jurence don't stay that colour for long it's something in the food that turns them that colour
If you ever see flash jurence for sale don't waste your money as chances are it will just look like a normal jurence after a few months that's why you don't see many adult ones that are gold yellow
while I will agree that the tig is a good looking cat, I would not go so far as to say it is the best looking cat out there. The Planiceps Firewood Catfish is nice in its own right. Have been looking for one of those myself. I too have the Brachyplatysoma juruense at about 10" it is just now starting to turn gold/yellow.
