I caught one,but It almost made me crap my pants.I was down in Brazil walking next to a small lake where my son was swimming with a lot of kids.I saw a snake take off and reflex took over.I was just about to grab it when it razed up a flared just like a real cobra. It made me hesitate just for a second and it got under a tree stump. Now like all the 30 kids were screaming cobra!,cobra! My mind was saying there are no cobras in South America. It gave me a weird feeling in my stomach,I rolled the stump over and it pinned the snake down, lol. Get the snake.

there mildly venomous right? saw a pair for sale here a while ago , very nice snakes.

yeah but I hear the venom can be pretty bad sometimes.IDK
thats why i dont buy them or any other ven reptile , just too much risk.

they're a rearfang snake so yes they can do damage

Their venom is said to have a similar potency to a Timber Rattler, just not the delivery system. They would have to have a good chew to do serious damage.Still not a snake to be careless with however! Great animals though, eat (and crap) like horses, and can get quite tame.Ive always found them to be quite docile with handling, but still use a hook and treat them like any front-fanged species.

that is not possible, Timbers probably have the second most potent venom in the states and would certainly kill you with out medical help. I would equate the venom of a false water cobra to something like a giant hognose. you would get a painful rash and possibly some muscular damage but nothing that would not heal after a few weeks even without medical attention. A friend of mine has been bit and all he got was an ichy red spot around the bite that went away after a few days but it can vary a lot between people and snake.
