I will let my goldfish know to start eating all the plants...

LOL...

There's just too many to choose from!

But I am agreeing on the warmer water too, as my pearlscale kept loosing scales and had some sort of ongoing scab that has all but gone away when I increased temps from 68-70 up to 78*.

I'm sure if I put one or 2 plants in with 'Fido' they would be shreaded, but if I planted the tank properly there would be less damage to the plants I'm sure..

i agree with reptileguy goldfish will ignore plants if you give them the correct diet, for my case i couldn't get them to stop eating my marimo ball until i switch to NLS thera-a and frozen bloodworm

Success, you want with goldfish?

1. warmer water than cold
2. good stock
3. clean uber-filtered water
4. 20 gallons per fish (roughly)
5. Java fern if you want plants
6. Gravel? medium sized smooth - thin layer
7. Good and varied diet
8. NO PLECOS EVER.

Get some ranchu if you can find them... although most people can't tell the difference between lionheads and ranchu so you could do lionheads insted.

Again,
Bristlenose plecos are fine.
The goal of any diet is complete and balanced nutrition. If your staple doesn't provide this then yes, you need to supplement it (variety), but variety is not a nutrient.
