Fantastic RTC Behavioural Issues!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It must be like an equivalent to a toddler phase, terrible 2's..terrible 3's..terrible 14's.. :ROFL:Everything you described BassLover is what my chap, Homer does..he sizes up the filters and gives you the look of "what?? i wasn't going to do anything :D"

Has anyone tried a plastic ball? Obviously too large that it can't be swallowed or get caught, something like a chew toy for RTC's?

Funny ... mines (approx. 2 feet each) are not so active once they were moved to large aquarium (2x3m). the most actvitiy i ever observed out of them is swimming up and down the glass when i am around. They certainly do not chase down feeders no more (at least not in my presence) ... they go for big stuff now ...whatever is worth the effort?

when they were in the smaller 150g they were like vacuums when it came to feeders
Space isn't the issue... as for feeders... you shouldn't be feeding them anyway... although I think we are all guilty of doing it from time to time ... it's fun to watch! I trust that you propperly q-tank them and treat for internal and external parasites...BUT ANYWAY In the smaller tank yours wouldn't have had to move as much and the feeders would pass by more often... which made them look that much more appealing.

I tried a feeder experiment..once, actually it was a feeder African, quite an endearing little chap, would hoover up any leftovers Homer accidentally dropped, removed algae, chase him around the tank. Heaps of personality for a little 2 inch fish. Homer kept him around for about 3 weeks then got sick of him and ate it!
