I too own many endlis and laps in various collection point. Even in the same exact location point, some will be different from another. This also show in captive breeds some do resembles one another while some siblings differes on so many ways.
This is what many bichirs hobbyist always expect that whenever a new collection or a different region is named, they expect that their will be a different looks (Patterns, headshape, base color etc etc). It's not always like that especially of the collection point is in the same country or close by neighboring region.
As mentioned by TGM, Yes I did had a Polypterus bichir lapradei from Sankarani river. Sankarani river is one of the tributaries of the Niger river which also flows to Guinea. We do not know if endli in Niger River travels or migrate as not many bichirs are being documented in the wild especially on what they do. So you never know if the bichirs that are caught in Guinea could also have sibling that travels to other tributaries. Then being caught in the certain place. Once caught in that area, we can just name after the area they were caught from as many of us bichirs keepers are so into this variation of regionals. This makes it more fun to collect more. To make it more easy but less fun, we can just call all of them in that area as Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri "Niger River".
here if u take a look at the map u will see that most are connected to each other.
