heres my boys GTO 69.

What engine is that packin? 455 by chance? I know a lot of those had the 455 shoved in them and made MEAN street machines.

my boy back in long Iland has a 69/70 gto judge replica with a 400 small block tri power set up on it cool lookin and sound's and go's good but suck's down the fuel even better.. :D belive it or not 455 were'nt much better the the 454 or 460 , the hot engine's of the day were 351clevland(big block the windsor is a small block) 427(both ford and chevy but ford also had the 428 too) 396 chevy, 400 small block chevy & pontiac , 390 ford , 302 pontiac & ford.. and the grandfather 327 fuelie vette engine's of the early 60's

it's funny and often over looked motor is an electric divise while an engine power's a car , some ASE mechanic's still refure to an engine as a motor .. look it up it is the truth... :D

You are right about the motor vs engine thing...I know this:D But the pontiac motors (Along with buick olds and cadilac) were not small block vs big block....it was simply a pontiac engine. Chevy engines were (key word being were) completely different than the B-O-P-C engines.....They (chevy) had the small block (ex. 350) and the big block (ex. 454) but the olds and pontiac motors used the same block with different bores and strokes for their engines. the 400 was the same block as the 455, but completely different than the 454 chevy. You can tell just by looking at the intake that the chevy engine was actually the oddball.

On a side note i know that the chevy engines i mentioned werent around as some of the earlier pontiac engines, I just used them as an example.
Give me a torque monster pontiac over a belly button SBC any day:D

also excuse the mixed motor/engine reference...its universal/ I'm ASE certified and use both terms...lol

please go on about this.

dictionary:

mo·tor ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mtr)
n.
1.. Something, such as a machine or an engine, that produces or imparts motion.
2.. A device that converts any form of energy into mechanical energy, especially an internal-combustion engine or an arrangement of coils and magnets that converts electric current into mechanical power.
3.. A motor vehicle, especially an automobile: “It was a night of lovers. All along the highway... motors were parked and dim figures were clasped in revery” (Sinclair Lewis).

i think you are wrong...

and straight from Wikipedia, which is one of the most reliable sources for everything-

"A motor is a machine that converts some form of energy into mechanical energy. In some contexts, the word motor refers specifically to an internal combustion engine."

and Engine in the dictionary

en·gine ( P ) Pronunciation Key (njn)
n.

A machine that converts energy into mechanical force or motion.

I am pretty sure, these sources use the word correctly.
