  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in the uk we use products by waterlife sterozin for internal worms and octozin for hexamita i had an outbreak of both in my 150 gal cichlid comm and lost 6 of the thirty! goodluck fella, its not easy lost my 12inch midas!

How big is your tank? You can try Tetra's Parasite Guard which is the samething as jungle labs parasite clear. Very effective against internal and external parasites.

yeah i have nothing but praise for the jungle brand parasite clear tabs, though getting enough to treat a tank that large is gonna cost a pretty penny, did you add any new fish without quarantining them first? if so then this is the reason to keep a small quarantine tank set up, that way you can observe any new fish first and if there is an issue its a lot cheaper treating a little 20g or something than it is a big display tank.... GOOD LUCK though, if its still eating you shouldn't have any problems just treat as soon as possible (also the jungle brand is very mild and not stressful on the fish like some other meds, i used that brand in a tank with tiny 1in> festae fry when i had to treat another fish i had added to quarantine and didnt see any ill effects from the meds

Mybad saw that the tank was 240 gallons. lol. You should have a quarantine tank atleast 10 gallons to 20 gallons. Would be much easier and cheaper to cure versus having to cure the entire tank.

yeah in hindsight definitely (and for future planning from now on), but to OP if it is parasites then now you definitely have to treat the whole tank as the parasites are in the water column as well and any fish taken out and treated in separate tank will just get infected again when put back in the big tank

Well put. Agreed.

I have used Metro in the past and has always worked. It's really hard to over dose and clears the water pretty fast. I soak the food in it. Bring the salinity in the tank up to near brackish and raise the temp in the tank (increases the parasite life cycle). Do it slowly. You may have to isolate the fish that isn't eating but still treat the main tank. Always always always have an available hospital tank, sponge filter, and air pump. I keep them under the tank stand.
I used to get a lot of wild caught fish in years ago. All got a salt dip and fed metro soaked food for 14 days before put in a main tank. I found that it is the safest and most effective way. Some meds can be quite nasty and hard to remove from the water column.

Good luck.

Whenever my festae get parasites I get a box of nightcrawlers jungle parasite tabs and kent marine garlic extreme and they are usually back to normal in 2 weeks. Put the garlic extreme on the nightcrawlers and feed 1 or 2 to get the appetite going again and also to push the fishes bowls. Then soak some pellets in garlic extreme and only offer 1 pellet at a time until the fish starts eating them. Its tried and proven for me. Make sure you follow the directions for the parasite clear exactly as they are written.
