I've had this banana plant for 6 months and just now I'm seeing explosive growth. Look at these two pics taken two days apart!

No, in fact I have plants that are not growing, or are slowly wasting away. No ferts either.

mine has grown in one month literally out of my tank, Bannana imo is the best begginers plant ever and is the center piece of my aquarium.

Ive seen several plants sprout like that. I've had tiger lotus, water sprite, guppy grass grow that fast too. Ofcourse I had co2 tho..But the fastest growing plant in the world is kelp.

Fastest I've had was watersprite Ceratopteris thalictroides & cabomba (and hair algae ;)) all without CO2 & ferts.

I thought it was some type of bamboo.

I love it too! My ray doesn't dig it up either.

I just looked up this plant and thought this part was especially interesting:
Propagation occurs when adventitious plants are formed and firmly pressed into damp ground or the aquarium substrate. Fully formed leaves may also be pressed into substrate to form new plants. Use Banana Plants as foreground plants and plant them singly for best results and for the most attractive look
