Fastest growth rate in your experience

My rtc ! Only had him for a month but his grown a good 2-3 inches he used to fit in his cave when i first got him now he hangs out!!

Umbees are also pretty fast if we ditch all the monsters/natives. I have never seen such fast growth on cichlids

I would agree with the silver aro but my african lungfish grew just as fast, not at first but when he got to around 10 inches his appetite and activity level went nuts and still is. He tries to bite you through the glass when you walk by and actually bit my arm when i was fixing his heater one night.

If this was a poll I imagine rtc would win at the end...but from experience has to be green moray, that thing went from 8" noodle to 15" sausage in just a few months. Sorry for odd metaphor

It really depends on tank size, feeding schedule, and water change frequency. You can greatly influence growth rate with these three things...

wrong, no fish can beat the Arapaima, they can get up to 6ft in the first 2 years of their life!
in my exp, ID shark probably the fastest growing fish I ever had, 4''-20'' in 1 year!

I would have to agree with HungDang. Most of us don't think arapiama cus we cant keep them, at least not for long. Friend of mine tried, it went from 4 inches to 2ft in 6 months. I would have to say its the winner.
