I found that different species grow at different rates. I do a 50% weekly water change and feed a lot. I have. 3" male and two 2"+ females, but the won't give it up to the male shimmying in front of them. I'm hoping they spawn soon.
strength and growth rate are not directly related (i.e. forcing an animal to work harder doesn't make them grow faster). Increased flow is more likely to wear fry out rather than make them stronger.
that is a good point when my convicts spawned i toke out my circulation pump from my tank so the fry aren't being pushed around the tank do to the water current.
