fastest way to sink driftwood?

well in the 220 my dad pinned the wood down with a stick... the stick touches the top of the tank and just pins the wood to the bottom... hopefully that will work.

*edit* just read the article... I bought my wood from hardscape pond supplies so I would think that it has been in water or is meant to sink... well thanks for the response
