hey. i'm from canada, and i just went away for the long weekend. so i fed my 17" or so clown knife some about 4 medium sized night crawlers to tide him over when i was gone. he has been eating them for about the last month or so. with no problem. i was gone for 4 days. and when i got back, his/her belly looked full. tryed to feed another night crawler, and he/she just barely wanted anything to do with it. everything has been perfect untill now. i stopped feeding feeder fish because i heard that they can carry parasites. i was wondering, if my fish was a female, if she could have eggs. just wondering.

Start with water parameters. What are they? Maybe it's time for a water change. Also, any other fish in the tank? If yes, any missing?

i hope not but it sounds like he may be backed up... overfeeding is not a good thing to do.. a hungary fish is a healthy fish...a stuffed fish is sick.. sorry..but i hope he will be okay... how long has it been since you fed him...

gosh he is a beautiful knife... is this a picture from now... with his belly swollen.? I cannot really see it well in this angle... let me know the size tank... and do a 50% water change... after that i would add a tea cup of aquariam salt {only} for every 10 gallons... and then just leave him alone.. 24 hours later if he is not better do it all again.... and hope for the best..also night crawlers should be fed only as a treat... and their is always a possibility depending on the source of the night crawlers that they can be contaminated.. with pesticides, insecticides...fungicides... all this is absorbed into the night crawler...so unless you raise them yourself...not a good thing to feed.. after this episode is over.. i suggest that you get him on frozen silversides ... good hikari sinking pellets... or massivore pellets.. there is a possibility it could be a toxin from the night crawlers..but one way or the other have to treat it like it is constipated.. good luck..

thanks alot for all you help. i have aquarium salt. and it is a 70 gallon tank. upgrading in the next few weeks to a much larger one. and that pic was taken today. after you asked for one. so i should put in 6 tea cups of aquarium salt? because the substrate takes up some room. correct?

yes about 6 tea cups sounds good... your very welcome
