I'd like to know why fat fish are looked upon so highly. I mean it's nice to see a plesently plump fish, but why are they wanted so badly. Some people say it means they are a 'healthy', but are they really? Fat people are 99% of the time unhealty, and have health issues. Do fish get those problems too, like heart complications and diabete's? Also, many people look down on fat people, so why are fat fish so highly sought after?

Kind of a rant, but what do you guys think?

What kind of fat fish are we talking about here? I don't recall anyone saying they wanted overweight fish.

I wouldn't want an overweight fish in my tank.

I detest the huge number of over weight...'power' fed RTC's I see turned back into the fish store. Fat fish are the direct result of people wanting 'instant' monsters and stuffing them full 3 or 4 times a day.

It takes a great deal of time and patiance to properly grow out a fish even as fast growing as a RTC let alone others. If you don't want to pay the premium for ADULT monsters then at least relax while your babys grow.

How many posts have you seen on MFK of people getting rid of half grown fish because of bordom and a desire to move on to the next 'COOL' BA fish.

I wonder if fat fish get picked on by the other tank mates for being fat.
HAHA you bet!
yo mamma is a fat convict!
lolz insert other fat fish jokes below

overfeeding becomes a problem if the fish becomes overweight... by power feeding, then doing less then power feedings... u allow the fish to sufficiently bulk up enough to be comfortable as it becomes longer... so if u are wide and u become a lil longer.... ur less wide and so on

i wanna add there only is so much within the limit of the fish that can be allowed though... a fish wont grow 5 inches in a month... t just wont... 1-2 maybe but u wont have a guppy one month and a monster the next

a fat fish isn't a healthy one you wan't one that eats we'll and isn't starving but fat is bad for fish to i've never heard about people likeing fat fish other then when there going to eat them
