This guy is a beefy full 12" footlong. On the last pic, do you think that is a short bodied delhezi? I've had that guy for a year now and I do not see it grow.

Nice Delz! The last one does look stubby:D How big is that guy?

Ever consider it may be fully grown hence the lack of growth.

Should a fully grown delhezi max out at 7"? This guy was not neglected or anything. I feed it daily.

A) the title of your post is ''fat footlong delhezi" so I was under the idea it was a footlong
B) its hit the lenghtening part of its growth and appears to be putting on girth which is normal, its highly possible it is fully grown 12-14 inches is the avg some will by genetics be smaller and some may be slightly bigger ie. the avg height for a human male is roughly 5'6''-5'9'' however as you know some grow taller and some are shorter-Anne

Anne, sorry for the confusion. It's pictures of two delhezis I posted. Picture 1 - 3 is the footlong delhezi and the last picture is the 7" full grown delhezi which I was asking if it's a short bodied. I noticed some of my bichirs will go thru major growth spurt while other just stay the same forever. I must have some short body gene bichirs.

It looks captive bred so theres no telling what the gene pool is like.Is it a SB doesn't
really look like it to me-Anne

Nice looking del you got there, especially the male SB del. It got interesting pattern and the shortness characteristic is quite obvious.

BTW what did you feed to make them grow so fat?
