Fat spotted rapheal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If Dive's suggestion works for a spotted raph and yours will take fruit, that could help move bowel things. But it could also result in a bloat.

He looks fine to me. I have 2 spotted and 3 striped and both of my spotted are built this way around 3-3.5" long but very round lol. I'll try and get some pictures if mine decide to come out of their log

You think that a diet containing fruit could contribute to bloat? Care to elaborate a bit?

If I had to guess at what he meant itd be that fruit can have a laxative effect on most all animals but with that effect comes the unavoidable build up of excess gas as well. Thats bare minimum explanation lol.

Right, plus the following: In a healthy fish, fruit should not be expected to be harmful. Yet, if my straw man supposition has a leg, a backed up fish may not process gas-producing fruit right. In that case perhaps Epsom salt would work safer if one wanted to try anything, which may or may not be the case here anyway.

Every few months all of the feed is soaked in epsom salt and fed for 5 days. Which he just completed a few weeks ago

Excellent. This is the practice I try to adhere too.

Does the raph get visibly thinner after Epsom treatment?
