Father and son Green Terror

The first pic is the father who is 5 year old, 10 inch, raised from fry from a pair imported from Asia. Asian GTs were selectively bred to have higher body than regular and wild fish. The next 4 pics is his son, 8 inch, 3 year old, which appears to have even a rounder and taller body. The son has not attained the impressive size and hump of his father yet, and his growth rate has slowed down, but hopefully he will get there in a couple more years.

It's not short-bodied fish which is deformed fish. It's a normal, taller body fish. Most domesticated cichlid developed taller body than their wild cousins. Just compare wild JD and Midas with domesticated and you will notice their body shape aren't the same.

Still completely artificial and unnatural; and still very ugly. Which is exactly my point...
 
I'll take it at anytime, far better looking than many low grade GTs I saw in LFSs. Many Florida pond raised GTs have poor body form and color due to unselective breeding. Most domesticated ornamental fish are artificial anyway, unless wild fish are imported steadily to replenish the gene pool but then it can lead to over exploitation in the wild.
 
He looks great! Hopefully, you'll have a like father, like son situation. ;)

Great looking GT's. If you had not mentioned the taller body and line breeding I would guess nobody would have noticed. Thanks for sharing, keeping him for 5 years is quite an accomplishment in itself.

Don't worry about what HerCrenVie is saying it's his opinion and no one else is paying him mind because he's going about stating his opinion in a nasty way, so you shouldn't either. We're all entitled to our opinions, but we shouldn't try to undermine anyone else's(like HerCrenVie's doing) if we wish to be respected in return. He maybe just trolling so pay it no mind so far everyone else has complimented your GT and you can add me to the list. I personally think that's one awesome GT father and son combo you've got going on there.
