What's the best way to fatten one up? I just got 2 a couple weeks ago and one was kinda thin. I've been feeding it bloodworms twice a day and it picks at massivore that I feed the bichirs every night, but it doesn't seem to be fattening up or growing at all compared to the other one which looks like its already grown 1/2".

A good staple pellet will do wonders. Could potentially be a parasite problem as well. Have you noticed stringy feces or a sunken in looking stomach?

No stringy feces but the stomach does look sunken in. Even though it eats a lot it never looks very full. It also has kind of a funky lookin face. It's left side looks deformed when you look from the front. Here's a couple pics and the last one is the other healthy looking one.

Not deformed. Just malnourished. The stomach doesn't look sunken in like what I had in mind. You probably just have a slow grower on your hands. I had a group of 4 geo red heads all from the same batch. At one point, the largest was a 4" male and the smallest was 2". I wasn't doing anything wrong. I just had to be patient. :)

I'd just feed a normal schedule. Attempting to "fatten" the particular fish up would seem to cause other problems. I had a fight with parasites recently with some fish then a had to treat for ich right after. The fish were looking really thin after all of the meds. 2 weeks of regular feeding and stepping up water changes seen them back to normal. I feed NLS, and twice a week I feed a few grindal worms.

Is that the same as omega one pellets? I was actually gonna buy some the other day but they didn't have it at petsmart or petco. Nls stands for new life spectrum right?
