So I guess we will refer to vics as Furu from now on... well the type in this thread...


No matter what we should do our bests to help each other to get the names right and spread these fish... I will set aside some space to do an all male tank to help...

The fishermen from Lake Vic seperated the cichlids into 3 groups. Furu (Haplochromis) Komaga (Astatoreochromis) and Sato (Oreochromis).

Furu is further split into 3 subgroups, Mgobegobe (large mouthed piscivores) Mbipi (rock dwelling cichlids) and all others (group not named in the text I am reading).

So I would throw in my assumption that the Astatotilapie is consider part of Haplochromis? Sounds good to me.
