are they in the tank with anything else?

I was wonderin bout that as well. They look beat up.

yes..but they are basically fighting each other. they are only about 1.5", so my multies are doing a number on them since they are protecting their brood. right now they are cramped...i know, being in a 10 gal. but soon i will more them into a 30 grow out as soon as a sell my midas cichlid (hate em). the tank has a bunch of guppies, a trio of cackatoo dwarf cichlids, a pair of multies and 5 aulnocara sp. chitante north...so it's crammed, but filtration is good and it's heavily planted.

and i forgot to mention that there are 6 of them...a perfect bunch 2m 4f....and i bought the lot of them for 5 bucks at my local aquarium auction...sweet deal.
