"Flag tails", "ATF", "Vamps", "Wolves", and "Cudas" share the same Order which is NOT Characin. They are of the Order Charciformes. From your pole --> The Hydrolycus species.
The Characidae Family are Characins - this is Silver Dollars, Piranha, Brycon, and 700+ more kinds of fish. So Favorite Characin, FTW ------> Piranha!
If you want to get techinical, Charciformes are characins, so he can make this poll....Otherone;4738810; said:Your list is not accurate.

Their isn't just 1 specie of flagtail there are many... all broken into groups.I believe there are SemaProchiodulis, Prochiodulis, Ichthyoelephas. All under the family prochilodontidae. I am fornate to be buying a rarer species of flagtail next week, prochiodulis lineatus and marie next week.Industrial;4739033; said:Then we need to contact the webmaster and ask if we can have a new section in other monster fish called "Other Acestrorhynchidae" for barracudas, "Other Cynodontidae" for vampire tetras, "Other Erythrinidae" for wolf fish as well as a section for Flag tails and ATF (which I do not know off hand).
The Characidae family is actually under need of review since it hasn't been touched since Eigenmann thought of it in the early 1900's. Once it is reviewed, piranhas are likely going to be split into their own family as well as other genera currently under the group Characidae.
On this board, generally characins are thought of as Characiformes and I figured since there are plenty of threads in this section about other families of Characiformes, this would be the most appropriate spot. Also, Favorite characiform, doesn't quite have the same sound.
Ps. since this poll needs to be ichthyologically correct, the vampire tetras are cynodonitdae containting, Hydrolycus sp, Rhaphiodon sp, Cynodon sp, Gilbertolus sp and Roestes sp. Not just Hydrolycus.
