i like mma as much as the next guy, but personaly i think that in the past couple years it has lost a lot of technique. as a martial artist myself, i see major flaws in the standup and ground game of many of the fighters. there are too many hook punches and roundhouse kicks. not enough strait punches and sidekicks. i also rarely see a fighter block a punch or kick, while it is completely telegraphed and easy to stop. the ground game is good, but they focus too much on one or two moves such as the arm bar or gillotine, and miss many oppertunities for other submisions. the fighters would be much better off if they studied a specific martial art such as kenpo, wushu, karate or any other real martial art. they all have a blackbelt in "brazillian jujitsu", but i have not seen a fight with a real jujitsu master. those guys go out there and give it their all, but i would really like it if mma had more traditional martial artists in it, instead of brawlers. As a blackbelt i kenpo, i cannot help but to see all of the minor errors made by the fighters.
