favourte substrate

I am just curious what everyones favourite substrate to use is.
I was at my lfs and one of the employes told me that play sand works like a charm.the reason i am asking is becuase i am getting a new tank soon its 150 gal the stock will be, 1 redtail cat fish,1 rtxtsn catfish, 1 false tigrinus catfish,1 tiger shovel nose catfish,1 motoro stingray,1 silver aro,1 clown knife,and a polypterus.would play sand be the best bet or should i suse something else.

I had gravel. Then I went sand and never went back.

play sand or pool filter sand or mix, depening on the color u want for the tank. cheap as hell two only way for a larger tank.

i always liked black sand as poop doesnt show up like on the white. also black creates a darker colored fish(could be good depending on the variety). and it looks good in most aquascapes if you choose the right colored rocks. so tahition moon or something.

omg i hope you know the only fish that could live in there for life is a polypterus
