I'm looking at doing a frog setup in my empty 50g (48 x 18 x 13). I really like the Fire Belly Toads I just wish they got larger. We'll need quite a few in a tank this size. Anyway, how should I set the tank up. I thought about doing a plexiglass divider but I don't know if I want to do that to the tank. So what would be another way of setting it up without altering the tank. Should I use sand and have it slope? Maybe Slate and rocks? I plan on having around 3-4" of water for half the tank then the rest will be land.

Petco had some tree frogs, would these work better in this tank? I did like how they got bigger.. can you mix the two species?

I had 6 in a 110 gallon paludarium for awhile, they were pretty entertaining. Google false bottom tanks, you can alter that idea in countless ways to make some pretty cool set ups! If the Fire Bellied Toads can fit into the tree frog's mouths, it's a possibility. I've heard of people keeping them together depending on the species of tree frog. White's Treefrogs probably wouldn't go well with them, Green or Gray Tree Frogs would probably be ok...

The tree frogs would appreciate a taller set up... I think there are kits to make a 55g 48" tall... If I were you I would just do a sand bottom, 2-10" of depth(sloping) and large rocks an drift wood coming out of the water.

Another reason not to mix the tree frogs and FBT is unless you do like 2 water changes a week to be safe, your tree frogs could become ill from the FBT toxins that leech into the water.
