IMO its the ghosts of that pair of crenicichla (minuanos if I remember) that your dimerus offed a couple of weeks ago. Their spirits are taking revenge on the killers. Thats what Im thinking and Im sticking to it..... Just my 10 cents....

I've found that one nervous fish can cause the whole tank to be antsy and stampede at a moment's notice. I'm guessing it's that fight or flight instinct -- one fish panics and the rest follow.
As for stray current, I think you could unplug the heater for a few hours and be fine. That much water wouldn't drastically cool too fast. Have you put your hands in the tank recently? I've felt stray current myself sometimes -- I had this weird stinging sensation around my cuticles. No wonder my fish were jumpy. It was not a pleasant feeling.![]()

The tank is in my son's bedroom ryansmith83;3708923; said:I keep trying to convince him to throw them in a box and ship them to me. My festivums will put them in their place. I could also use a ton of those fry for food.

I'd also do a water change - maybe a bit larger than usual - and check for stray current.
I recently removed a couple of powerheads that for whatever reason had started to leak current. I could tell because when I dipped my hand into the tank, there was a little tingling feeling in my hand. Removing the problem powerheads resulted in much more active, secure acting fish. Heaters can similarly leak current.
Good luck!
