FedEx is a Joke

My fh was shipped fed-ex and everything went smoothly, seems like your local fed-ex is a bunch a wankers. I would try and go ups for your area, sorry for your loss.

No water in the bag...I'm guessing the bag was punctured at some point and the water leaked out?...If you ship animals often enough something is bound to happen sooner or later no matter who the carrier is..I used to ship fish pretty often until UPS lost a gold wolf I had sold to a member.I pretty much gave up shipping after that ordeal.

I've never had a problem with fedex.

Im not saying no one messes up.

But this is huge.

Ive never had a significant DOA from USPS or UPS and Ive even shipped flat rate.

I just dont like how they lie to you. Be honest - say: shipping live animals is at your own risk, shipping can be delayed for no reason if we claim so, and shipping will not be held to anyone's standards but our own.

Im frustrated again because upon talking to the local fedex branch, they not only repeated these lies - but also told me that the driver was delivering other "higher priority" packages from 9AM on.

Not saying that bad deliveries dont happen.

Two in a row?

This one wasnt justified. Fish was on the vehicle and he had all day to deliver it. He simply chose not to. Maybe its the route or whatever, but I feel as if when you have a package that you promise will be somewhere at a certain time you make changes to the route.

Speaking out of ignorance here, but I just dont understand how this mess up occurred.

UPS shows up the earliest when its a live animal delivery. They usually show up by four - and they always come early. Even when I lived ten miles out of town.

Id have to find the thread but there was a story about the shipping company (I don't remember which) losing the package for a WEEK. It was a goldfish however and survived!!

I'm a little surprised an extra 5 hours would be fatal though, especially if it was still warm.

You can always ask for hold for pick up
find the usps/ fed ex hub for your specific area and hold for pickup..usps normally will always have priority overnight by 9am so instead of waiting the rest of the day with your fish in the back of a truck you just go get them. Same goes for fedex.
Also stuff like this happens,I have shipped a ton of fish out, sometimes stuff gets lost, sometimes late, sometimes damaged, sometimes the fish breaks the bags,It sucks for me and the customer but it is what it is but I take care of my guys.

+1 Hold for Pick Up... one less opportunity for failure.

UPS, in my experience, is just as bad. I quit shipping with them - for anything - after they decided to keep a box at the depot 25 mins from me over a long weekend (vs. allowing me to go pick it up). It, of course, was a horrible stinking mess that probably fouled the entire shipping container of packages...but their choice.

I've had best luck with USPS.

Honestly, though, in the winter shipping and receiving fish always involves some level of risk. Wait until spring or roll the dice...
