iv owned an eheim pro 3 for years, no problems at all

but needed another big filter so opted for the FX5

not very pricey, very easy to set up, great water flow.

I have the baskets are stacked with different types of foam...coarse, fine, etc, and the water is crystal clear! It does an amazing job of mechanical filtration!!!

I like them & have not had any problems. Bought one when it first came out to test drive for a few months before selling it & still runs like a champ. I only clean it once a year on a 110 gallon tank with medium bioload & no other filter. I use several on our own displays & I use on on my 350 gallon here at home along with a wet/dry which i no longer like because of evaporation & noise from same. I have used on many jobs without trouble. I have sold many & only had a couple people with the bubble problems etc.. Media selection & location can fix. I did have one customer have a problem & did everything under the sun in new media, breaking it down etc & not getting the flow like it was. He talked to Hagen etc.. was not to happy with response maybe needing a new impeller ($70.) for a two year old filter. I got one in to sell to him at cost but never herd back from him again. This is the only one that may have had a major problem but could have had loose media get inside the motor & screw the thing up but I really don't know?

Good buy I say.
