Okay, I've read alot about aros..and the more I read forums the more it makes me think twice about getting a silver aro..I have a Jar in a 125G right now by himself..I just bought a 150G 6ft Acrylic tank..and I'm planning on putting a silver in there..but with all the feedback that I have been reading about needing a tank bigger then 200G..kinda makes me think twice..okay, my LFS has a 12-13inch silver for $120 but I have asked if it is possible to get it for 90 and they said yes..because it has been in a 30g long tank for the past 4months..I want to take it out of its misery but at the same time while reading feedbacks..it makes me think twice..I know I will never be able to get a 200g tank and up...wont fit through my basement steps..(was already hard enough with the 150 & 125)..sooo, in the best interest of the silver..should I purchase him or not..thinking about the long run too..

What's the width of the 150? If it's less than 24", IMHO, don't do it. If you MUST, what about a large rubbermaid stock tank or some other means of keeping it alive when it outgrows the 150? I like seeing aros from the top.

h/o..i used the tank calculation and it came out to be 192Gallon..is that right?..The LFS that I bought it from said it was 150G and they charged me 250 for it..Remeber this is a Acrylic tank too..So I bought it since it was a good deal..now, did I get an even better deal because they didnt know exactly what the tank size was? (the tank is used..custom built by the previous owner and does not leak..has been running in my basement for the past 2 days)...The tank was at the LFS only 1day before I walked in and bought it...hmm....Silver? hehe..jK..the Jardini is going in there this weekend..and then the barred midas and FH is going in the 125G..

IMO. Keep the Jar. I'm on the fence whether I like them more than silvers anyway.

20" would be great for the silver for atleast 3 years. atleast you would be giving the aro 3 good years of ur best ability. mine lived in a 18" wide tank for 5 years and grew to over 2.5' and only died because my mom did a 80% w/c when i wasn't home...

silvers spert quick when small then slow down and get fat. control its feeding habbits and amounts to control its growth a bit. by this i dont mean starve it between feedings but jus dont stuff his face 24/7 like do. silvers are awesome fish and u wont know this til u own one.

That's one unforeseen accident....:(
