shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Hey, does anyone keep feeder fish as pets? I had some feeders left over in the tank when I sold my gulpers, and I bought an aro and a lima that are too small to eat them, so the feeders keep growing and growing, and I gotta say, they are pretty interesting fish with how they interact with one another. Just because they are not worth much does not mean they dont make good pets. Eventually my other fish will be big enough to eat them, but has anyone bothers keeping feeders as pets?

3 different kinds of feeders. i currently have guppies that i put in for food and they have grown beautiful tails and are now my pets. there's 3 of them in the tank and they chase each other all day long. never had rosies. and my sister has 2 sarasa's that were feeders for her oscars but grew too big too fast and are now 6" each and beautiful.

i have 2 western mosquitofish that were mixed up with rosies, bound to end up inside a Cichlid or Catfish

nothing wrong with keeping feeders as pets, I think those cheapie comets look decent in a pond IMO

All of the fish in my goldfish tank were sold as feeders, luckily there were some shubunkins and comets mixed with commons. My largest few are 7" SL and 10" TL.

feeder goldies make wonderful pets. the only problem is the size they can reach and the absolute insane ammount of crap they release. they have wonderful personalities, and are extremely interactive with each other and us as the owner. awesome fish if you have a tank big enough to support them.

even ghost shrimp which are generally viewed as feeders make cool pets. the bigger ones that are easily seen you can actually see the food go into their mouth/stomache. even cooler when their eating live blackworms and the things are still moving after being eaten :)

Heres my 6yo feeder

I agree. They do tend to be weaker though due to the conditions they are in but if quarantined and well cared for, they make better pets than they usually are.:)
