i just had to take my snapping turtle to the vet for worming and i am now done with buying feeder fish that can bring parasites into my tank. whats the best fish for breeding feeders? is it even worth the time? is there a way to treat fish i buy? i have an empty 10 gal tank i could use to quarentine the store bought fish but how do i rid them of parasites.

I WISH I COULD GET FEEDERS TO BREED THAT WOULD BE DOPE!

They sell food at places like Petco and Petsmart that claim they clean out the parasites inside of fish. So keep feeders in quarantine for a while and feed them this food and see how it goes.

As for breeding your own, breed swordtails, since they breed easily (I've heard) and can be quite big, not like little tiny puny guppies that might be ignored by your snapper.

I'm trying to breed feeder minnows right now. I just started so I'll have to see how it goes. They're easy to breed and grow pretty fast. Livebearers are just too slow growing for me. Does your turtle eat shrimp? I used to feed my snapping turtle them.

i get minows cheap down the street at the bait store but they die off like the plague. also im not quite sure if the turtle got the worms from them or the gold fish.

breeding guppies should be easiest for you.... if you have a fair size tank, try breeding convicts
