convicts or any cichlid that is a prolific breeder is a good choice, but it still won't be a constant supply unless you dedicate a lot of time and space for it

They sell food at places like Petco and Petsmart that claim they clean out the parasites inside of fish. So keep feeders in quarantine for a while and feed them this food and see how it goes.
Thats a great idea I hadn't thought of that thanks jux

I definitely agree with Cichlaholics Anonymous. Breeding enough feeders to keep up with a snapper's appetite would require a pond, or a bunch of tanks. A tank or two with pairs of convicts or livebearers will provide occasional snacks, but not a steady diet.

As an alternative, try freezing feeders, then offering them. This should kill any parasites without lowering the nutritional value. Storebought frozen seafood also works. Seafood is pricey, but you can sometimes get a big discount on food that is close to its sell-by date. Try for foods with bones, head, skin, shells, etc. still intact; fish fillets and peeled crustaceans are less nutritious than whole ones.
