I want to breed some feeder fish but... i dont want to buy like a giant tank for fish that wont constantly breed is there any type of fish that doesnt need a relatively large tank and can reproduce like every 2-3 weeks? because i just dont want to rely on getting feeders from the petco because i no that they could have parasites or ich or anything else. :WHOA::WHOA:

Depends on the size of fish you're feeding. Guppies maybe? Cons breed quickly, but you'll need a half dozen grow outs to feed them constantly to your predators. If you only wanna treat your fish every once in a while, CONS are a good choice. My puffers get 1 or 2, once a month or so.

Alright because i got some big midas , jags , and jack dempseys and was just wondering on that thanks

eh, who cares about practical. not to slam pellets, i personally think a variety is a way to go. That can include pellets. no way pellets are more economical then food you grow yourself

The problem with most breeding projects is it's easy to get the fish to breed, but then you need a seperate tank to put the fry in to keep the breeding pairs going. it's not so much the tank size that's an issue (you can breed convicts in 10 gallons), it's seperating the fry and allowing them to grow

well with the whole pellet thing i dump in bottom dweller pellets and shrimp pellets with flakes and brine shrimp and my JD absolutely loves the pellets but i wanna do something kinda new so that his growth will pick up.

tater tots will make them grow like nuts!
hey bro i have a breeding set up in my fish room with a 45 gallon and 2 10 gallons beneath it and have about 100-150 cichlids (malawi,s and mbunas)

obviously you know about pellets

the only thing is bro that they are like 3/4 of an inch at 1 month old so i dont know if this helps, cause i havent decided if im going to use them as feeders or select the most colorful ones and the use the rest as feeders:D

ive got about 20-30 adults breeding i fed the uncolorful ones to my tsn:headbang2, monster fish style

I bread guppies for all of 2 months before giving up. Even though they breed fast and give live birth, I realized it would be awhile before I had a decent supply of large fish. So I let my little senegal spend the weekend in the guppy tank.
