feeder fish

Depends on how big the fish is that they are being fed to.

I've had luck with mollies. They are bigger than guppies and platies, smaller than convicts.

Generally speaking live bearers are easier in my experience at least.
 
I bought four platies at one point and had over 30 in my tank in 2 months.
Once my Oscar was introduced to the tank they had all "disappeared" in 1 week.
 
guppies are the easiest for me, they seem to breed quicker than platies. just throw in a lot of plants and have like 3 females per male
