goldfish are also high in a substance called thiaminise, which actually destroys vitamin B1 in your fishs system. not good as feeders at all, ever, unless you like feeding you fish the fish equivalent of caffiene, another nutrient sucker.

Yeah, there really is no nutritional value to feeders. My O's got a few of them last week. I bought some feeders for my turtle and had them in his tank. Well, he did not eat them, I left them in his tank for 3 weeks and when I was cleaning it I took them out and gave 3 feeders to each of my O's. It took them a while to catch them because they are not used to catching live food.
I only feed my O's earthworms, crickets, and pellets.

Having seen the wholesale warehouse where fish are stored before they get to our store, I can pretty much tell you that the goldfish are about worthless when it comes to nutritional value. They are obviously kept in huge cattle-watering troughs by the 1000's. They are not fed while they are at the wholesale house. We don't feed them at the store either. Granted we sell them fairly quickly (usually 2500 will last us 2-3 days). I can see why our store-kept predators eat so many: they aren't very filling. I've also seen some other funky critters come with the feeders, crayfish and tadpoles not being uncommon.
THANKS GUYS I AM REALLY WONDER WHY I HAVE BEEN FEEDING THEM THIS . I see now that they are not great for my fish i will try some veggies and see if they like that .

not right now, but my mother owed an oscar for almost 25 years. I fed him almost every day. he was the family pet.Tongue33;605914; said:I do !!
