feeder fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
and is the fungus and colomnaris contagious? will it go to other fish in the tank?

It can, but it usually just attacks the fish that are stressed and in poor condition. Thats why the feeders being kept in poor condition were starting to succumb to it. Healthy fish in good quality water should be able to shrug it off.
The fungus and bacteria spores are all around us and in the tank water, just waiting to come across a host with a poor immune system. But why tempt fate by dumping an extra dose of them in along with a sick fish :nilly:
Bury them in the backyard or throw them out in the trash - safer than taking a chance with your fish.

Cheers

Ian

thanks man! i don't keep fish though..a turtle. haha

absolutely do NOT use them as bait! If the pathogens are still viable after freezing, you could potentially infect the native fish with a tropical disease that they would have no immunity to. It would be extremely irresponsible, to say the least.

thanks. will probably have to burn them or something..

why don't you just throw them in the trash can on garbage day?

u just froze them LIVE!!! omg thats so mean. ure going to helllllll

I heard freezing them is the most humane way of putting fish to sleep.

Next time I'll send diseased fish over to your tank, there happy?lol

urrr dude...if they are diseased u can just cure them genius. ie..add salt and medicine. raise the temp of the water. it isnt thattttt hard...better than freezing them...sheesh....its easy to say its humane when u havent experienced it ureself....
