feeder guppies/non conventional feeders

I think some of the concern is that parasites and infections can grow and be more severe in a tank setting VS in the wild. A fish with an anchor worm in the wild will probably be fine but get an anchor worm in the confines of a tank and you can have a severe infestation in no time.

I think live/whole foods are great nutritionally. I try to feed them often.

I totally agree with that, but with feeding live comes the responsibility of watching your fish and keeping up with tank maintenance. There may be more work involved and more tank scrutiny, but I think its worth it.
