Every now and then I get a few nicely colored goldfish in the bag of feeders that I purchase and I keep them for a while, anyone else does this?

i do too especially the red and white ones, but eventually i have to feed them to the big fish, i don't have room for anymore. I did get couple of fantails once in a bag of feeders, kept them. They have some issues with their fins so i guess that was a way of culling them.

I do it too. I don't put them in my tanks though they go outside in the ponds. I had to start all over with fish in one pond though because a bunch of my neighbors kids were out front on the 4th and a few of them had bubbles. I didn't realize one of them had dumped a bottle in it till the next day. No survivors but I thought the pond looked pretty cool all bubbly looking.

I'm kinda partial to the orange ones with the black trim though I've been told that if they live long enough and grow out the colors will change.I have never kept any long enough to find out.

Sorry about your pond, thats why I moved mine from the front yard to the backyard now instead of neighborhood kids I have to worry about the racoons stealing my butterfly koi.

My G/F thought she was "saving" a few pretty ones once to cycle her new tank. Then I told her that she sent them to an early death. b/c right after the tank was cycled and we had to move the feeders out they went into my RBP tank.
