Feeder question.

I know its bad to feed your fish feeder fish but it's ice fishing season here and I wanted to know if it would be ok to give my fish minnows or shiners. Iw not what kind of worms can I give them?

first check if the worms you catch havent been treated in an area with pesticides.IMO i would just buy some worms.for fish,make sure they have no parasites,disease,etc..make sure where you catch them,its not heavily polluted

Im feeding my CA/SA cichlids. Thes are farm raised worms. Night crawlers, dillie worms, earth worms, blood worms. They are the kind you go fishing with.

ok. Also my cichlids wont eat hikari cichlid bio gold. is that common?

earthworms are a good occasional food item for the CA/SA cichlids.

You could also buy the frozen silversides from your lfs. My fish love them, even my little ck's. Mix that with some earthworms, mealworms, frozen food, and you should be fine.

Is there a good fish to use for feeder fish? I was considering setting up a small tank just to keep them in maybe get them breeding to keep the stock going? gold fish or guppies? suggestions?
